About Church of God at Brandon
The Church of God at Brandon is a Christian church originally founded by Christ over 2,000 years ago. Our congregation has its roots in Tampa's Ybor City (circa 1960). At first called The Church of God Latin American Mission, the church and its elementary school began through the efforts of former missionary to Cuba, Phyllis Martin. Today we're located in Brandon, Florida and are a congregation made up of men, women, and families of different nationalities and races. We have numerous things in common: 1. A desire for truth. 2. A desire to live a clean life - made possible through salvation in Christ. 3. A desire to be in fellowship with kind, decent, and life-loving friends. 4. And a very real hope of being with God in Heaven.
Featured Question
Q: What kind of church are you?
A: Since the "church" is a congregation of saved people and not a "building", we are a people that meet as a small part of God's church in Brandon, Florida. We gather together on Sundays and Wednesdays and sing hymns, listen to special singing and the choir, and then we listen to the preached word. The preaching part is one of the most important parts of the services for us because it's the time when God speaks to us and gives us direction for our lives. Men and women who love God and do our best to prepare for the next life and who share with our friends and neighbors the good things that God has for all those who choose to give their lives to Him.
