About John M. Olin Library
The WashU Libraries are a powerful network of academic resources featuring 9 libraries (7 locations on the Danforth Campus, one at West Campus, one at the Medical School); vast print and electronic collections; and expert librarians whose first priority is helping students and faculty find the information they need. The center of this rich network is John M. Olin Library, a 197,000-square-foot research library housing humanities, social sciences, engineering, and special collections; and extended-hours study space; reading rooms; lounges; and small-group studies. The other libraries house collections serving specific departments or schools.
Featured Question
Q: Can anyone just go in or do I need a library card or something?
A: Hello! Thank you for your question. Library visitors and alumni can obtain temporary credentails by presenting a photo ID at the Library Help Desk. These credentials are good for 30 days. Users can learn more on our website under "For Visitors and Alumni." Students, faculty, and staff may use their WUSTL ID for Library materials. For more information about Borrowing Privileges or any questions, contact the Circulation Librarian through the Ask Us page on the website. Please do note that Library visitors are responsible for being abreast of and adhering to the university's visitor guidance and protocols, available on the WashU Together: COVID-19 Response. Masking in the buildings is required and all patrons are asked to conduct a health screening before venturing onto campus. Links related to this can be found on the Libraries website.
