Q: How can you offer active military members a discount but deny myself who retired with almost 22 years of service? I don't understand this logic and I refused to shop there today. What a slap in the face for all retirees.
A: Richard thanks for your feedback for your military service. We are passionate about always trying to improve our business and one of our timeless values has been to listen to our customers. Our military discount policy from John Hambleton, Founder & CEO of Islanders: "After starting Islanders in 1980, I signed up for the Air Force Reserves and I served in the local AFRES unit. My father served in the Air Force for over twenty years and had combat tours in Korea and Vietnam. My grandfather served in the Army Air Corp in Europe in WW1. So we have a long history of serving in the military. I am proud to say that we at Islanders have offered a discount to our brothers and sisters serving in active duty for our forty years in business. Our budget limitations prohibit us from extending that to the retired military community, but we respect their service and sacrifice."
