Featured Question
Q: What nonprofits are involved?, where does the money go? What percentage of their money goes to the communities they serve?
A: NoBo Mrkt is not a non profit. Our primary purpose is developing and strengthening the local food system for the benefit of the social and economic well-being of the greater Grand Traverse community and region, including to model and incubate equitable food system solutions that contribute to resilient communities and to provide additional economic opportunities within our region. In 2021, the Grand Traverse Foodshed Alliance became our nonprofit partner. Using a collective impact model, GTFA provides NoBo Mrkt with backbone services, like administrative support, accounting, and HR needs, as well as operating the incubator food kitchen. In 2022, GTFA received grant support from Rotary Charities to support the opening of the incubator kitchen, with the space planned to be open in early 2024. GTFA is a non profit 501c3. Currently, 100% of the funding supports developing mission aligned activities and programming within NoBo Mrkt.
