About Athan's Bakery & Cafe
Athan's Bakery is an artisanal family owned and operated bakery/cafe that has been in the Washington Square neighborhood of Brookline since 1999, though it has deep roots in Kalamata, Greece. With a passion for the cafe culture of Europe, we offer handmade pastries in an Old World atmosphere. From baklava to mousse layer tortes to viennoiserie, we strive to keep scratch baking traditions alive. Our diverse patrons are invited to take a break, slow down, and enjoy a cup of our house roasted coffee with some quality pastry. We like to think that we bring you a little bit of Europe, whether at out table or yours.

Q: Do you have gluten free breads and pastries?
A: They have 2 gluten free cookies available, usually right on the counter in big glass jars. One is a chocolate cookie and the other is an almond cookie. Both are quite good though I'm partial to the almond. Might want to call ahead as they often sell out of these as they're quite tasty.
